2025-2026 WAC Faculty Fellows Recognized for Excellence in Teaching
The Writing Across the Curriculum program is proud to celebrate two WAC Faculty Fellows whose teaching has recently been recognized across the University of Arizona.
Amritha Wickramage
Assistant Professor of Practice, School of Plant Sciences
Dr. Wickramage has been selected for the 2026 Gerald J. Swanson Prize for Teaching Excellence, a university-wide award that recognizes outstanding undergraduate teaching at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Wickramage is being recognized for her innovation, creativity, and deep investment in the student experience. Her teaching reflects a strong commitment to accessible, engaging, and professionally relevant learning, both in person and online.

Evan Martin-Casler
Lecturer, Eller College of Management
Evan Martin-Casler received the Eller College Students’ Choice Award for Outstanding Faculty Member in Business Communication. The award was presented by the Eller College Dean’s Council on behalf of the Eller student body.
This recognition is especially meaningful because it comes from students, highlighting Martin-Casler’s impact in business communication classrooms. We appreciate Evan’s commitment to helping students develop as writers, professionals, and communicators.
We also congratulate Evan on being selected as a recipient of the Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry’s Confluencias: Voices and Visions of the Arizona Sonora Border grant, which supports creative, scholarly, and community engaged projects rooted in the borderlands.
Together, these awards highlight the work WAC Faculty Fellows are doing across disciplines. These exemplar educators, who center on writing, reflection, and student-centered pedagogies, are being recognized on their impact and how they strengthen learning throughout the university.
